![]() Copy Much like its hit male cousin, "Forever Plaid," "SUDS" is loaded with good clean fun, bubbling energy and over 50 chart toppers from the 60’s! Ten years ago, four friends got together and wrote a little rollicking musical called SUDS - The Rocking 60's Musical Soap Opera. With a cast of four fantastic singers/actors and a band of five, SUDS is the delightful story of a young teenage girl and the four guardian angels who come to teach her about finding true love. The hilarious action takes place in a laundromat during the sensational 60's, and much like its hit male cousin, Forever Plaid, SUDS is loaded with good clean fun and bubbling energy. The rocking 60’s musical features over 50 well-known songs that topped the record charts, including: Where The Boys Are - (Connie Francis), These Boots Are Made For Walkin’ (Nancy Sinatra), Respect (Aretha Franklin), I Feel Good (James Brown), Do You Want To Know A Secret (The Beatles), just to name a very few... SUDS has received rave reviews from coast to coast, breaking many box office records at theaters like the prestigious Old Globe Theater, Actors Theater of Louisville and the San Diego Repertory Theater. This is a show that puts a smile on your face and lifts your heart with some of the most popular songs of all time. With the huge 60's revival now sweeping the country - evident in Dick Clark's mega hit NBC series, American Dreams - there is no doubt that SUDS will be cleaning up at the box office once again! SUDS’ co-writer and arranger, Steve Gunderson, a stage and screen veteran who has composed critically acclaimed scores for the world premieres of Dixie Highway and A Christmas Carol, will direct this nationally touring show. He created (with Kathy Najimy) and wrote the arrangements for off-Broadway's critically acclaimed Back To Bacharach and David, among other successes. A professional actor since his teens, he has appeared in over a hundred productions including The Grapes of Wrath with Ed Harris, How The Grinch Stole Christmas (as Papa Who) at the Old Globe Theatre, and played Sparky in Forever Plaid in the New York, Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, Atlanta and Boston productions. The show’s choreographer, Javier Velasco, is credited with the original choreography of Suds in New York, San Francisco, Toronto and the Old Globe, for which he received the Critics Circle Award. He has been hailed by the San Diego Union-Tribune as "San Diego's answer to Jerome Robbins" and was listed among people to watch in the art and theater scene by San Diego Magazine.
